You're probably laughing at the thought of having a bake sale for you to make a quick buck, but it really isn't a bad idea. If you have a large kitchen, know how to bake, and have a few friends you could easily make a few hundred bucks in a weekend.
I know that most bake sales have some sort of charity or church behind them, but why can't you be the charity? You're broke and need some extra cash, so why not do it for yourself?
Obviously, follow safe cooking procedures while you're doing this. You don't want to make a few bucks off a cookie only to have to pay thousands after a lawsuit.
The way this goes down is you find some recipes that you can make cheap and easy. Starting from scratch takes a little longer, but you'll save a ton of money (more to your bottom line). After you've dialed a recipe set up a production line in your kitchen so that you can get three or four batches of each recipe done efficiently. After everything is baked and wrapped you can either call on your friends to buy from you, or head out door to door. If anyone asks you what charity you're working for you can either make something up, or tell them that you're working to put your kids through private school. Feel free to turn on the waterworks with a story about how you couldn't go to school for whatever reason and want your kids to have the things you couldn't. You may be able to score a few extra bucks this way...
